Les petroleuses were women that actively participated in setting fires in many government places during the “Commune” of Paris in 1871. Like the many other women in history who are often forgotten, so were they, even though their role was central.
lyrics
Blood on the streets
Corpses in piles
Dressed up in black
for their sentence to death
Mothers and wives
Daughters and maids
pour out this oil
Fire it all
Fire it all
They’re ready to die
They’re ready to fight
They’re ready to destroy this all
A week of revolt
Our hands are now strong
Barricades built
Fire it all
Blood on the streets
Corpses in piles
Dressed up in black
for their sentences to death
They’ll fire it all
Light the fuse
Fire it all
They’re ready to die
They’re ready to fight
They’re ready to blow this up
A Dream of revolt
Our hands are now strong
Barricades built
To fire it all
